NS&I provisional Q2 2026-27 results

28 October 2026

NS&I’s unaudited results for the second quarter (July-September 2026) of the financial year 2026-27 show that NS&I delivered £3.0 billion of Net Financing to the Government, giving a half-year total of £4.0 billion.

NS&I’s Net Financing target for 2026-27 was set at £15 billion (+/- £4 billion), £2 billion higher than the target for 2025-26, alongside the Spring Forecast in March 2026; and the target was reconfirmed alongside the Budget in October 2026.

NS&I Interim Chief Executive, Sir Jim Harra, said:

“The savings market remains competitive and we have continued to increase interest rates across many of our variable and fixed-rate products, including improving the prize fund rate and odds for Premium Bonds, to help us to meet our Net Financing target for the year.

“We have improved our Net Financing performance in the second quarter of 2026-27, delivering £3 billion to the Government, compared with £1 billion of funding in the first quarter.”

Notes to Editors

  1. NS&I reports quarterly on gross inflows and outflows, Net Financing and total stock. Net Financing excludes Green Savings Bonds, as they are a policy product.
  2. Net Financing – the measure of the net change of NS&I funds, meaning total inflows from deposits, retention of maturing monies and capitalised and accrued interest, less the total outflows from withdrawals and interest or Premium Bonds prize draw payments. A positive Net Financing figure represents a positive contribution to government financing.
  3. NS&I is one of the largest savings organisations in the UK, offering a range of savings and investments to more than 24 million customers. All products offer 100% security, because NS&I is backed by HM Treasury.
