NS&I provisional Q1 2026-27 result
25 August 2026
NS&I’s unaudited results for the first quarter (April-June 2026) of the financial year 2026-27 show that NS&I delivered £1 billion of Net Financing to the Government.
The Spring Forecast in March 2026 set NS&I’s Net Financing target for 2026-27 at £15 billion (+/- £4 billion), £2 billion higher than the target for 2025-26.
NS&I Interim Chief Executive, Sir Jim Harra, said:
“In a competitive savings market, our first quarter of 2026-27 came in lower than anticipated, delivering £1 billion of Net Financing to the Government.
“However, we have responded to the changing market by making a series of interest rates increases across many of our variable and fixed rate products, including improving the prize fund rate and odds for Premium Bonds, to help us to meet our Net Financing target for the year.
“The changes to Premium Bonds, announced last week, mean there will be an estimated 308,000 further tax-free prizes in the September draw compared to the August draw, with the prize pot increasing by around £63 million to over £497 million.”

Notes to Editors
1. NS&I reports quarterly on gross inflows and outflows, Net Financing and total stock. Net Financing excludes Green Savings Bonds, as they are a policy product.
2. Net Financing – the measure of the net change of NS&I funds, meaning total inflows from deposits, retention of maturing monies and capitalised and accrued interest, less the total outflows from withdrawals and interest or Premium Bonds prize draw payments. A positive Net Financing figure represents a positive contribution to government financing.
3. NS&I is one of the largest savings organisations in the UK, offering a range of savings and investments to more than 24 million customers. All products offer 100% capital security, because NS&I is backed by HM Treasury.
