NS&I has been in business since 1861 and has around 27 million customers, more than twice as many as any other retail savings provider. We manage around £66 billion, which is almost 17% of the National Debt and 10% of the UK retail savings investments market.
Our principles
As an Executive Agency of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, we aim to:
- provide a totally secure place for people to save, backed by the Treasury
- provide the Exchequer with a source of financing (i.e. public borrowing)
