How do I close my account or cash in my investment?

For accounts and investments you can manage online or by phone, log in or call us.

If you choose to close your account or cash in all your investment online, simply:

  1. Log in / register. If you are already registered, please enter your NS&I number, surname and password.
  2. On your homepage, go to the account you want to close and then click Cash in or Take money out.
  3. If you have more than one account of that type, select the one you want to close.
  4. Enter the full balance in the amount box and then click Cash in or Take money out.

Have an Investment Guaranteed Growth Bond? You can only cash it in online.

For any accounts or investments you can’t manage online or by phone, you’ll need to complete a form and post it to us.
