Sombre things, funerals. And while mourning is a necessary part of grieving it is not, perhaps, how we ourselves would like to be remembered. 

Even at the core of the ceremony itself, along with respect for the dead, family and friends increasingly want to show an appreciation of the life.Today, observing the death of someone close is often more ‘a service of thanksgiving’ than a funeral. And in an Irish wake, what follows is more a party than piety.
