Prize winner areas

As part of our published list of high value Premium Bond prize winners each month, we give general details of the area each winner is from. To protect the anonymity of winners and help keep their personal details confidential, we will only publish an area if there are at least 100,000 Premium Bond holders living within it.

Each customer will be assigned to a town, local authority, county or Government Standard Region and country. If the town that a winner has been assigned to has less than 100,000 holders assigned to it, then the following hierarchy will be used until a level is found where that area has at least 100,000 Premium Bond holders:

  • 1st level – Royal Mail Postcode Address File (PAF) Town,
  • 2nd level – County or Local Authority
  • 3rd level – Government Standard Region
  • 4th level – Country

For large towns and cites that are divided into local authorities or boroughs, we will quote the area that has the fewest customers over the 100,000 reporting limit. This may mean a local authority area or borough is quoted instead of the town or city.

For Premium Bond holders living outside the UK we would only publish the country if there were at least 100,000 holders living there; otherwise we would publish the area as “overseas”.

We do update the list of areas from time to time as the numbers of Premium Bond holders in each area change.
