NS&I is exhibiting on stand 88–92.  John Prout, NS&I sales director, will be giving his presentation “Tax-free? Risk-free? Why NS&I should be part of YOUR portfolio” in Conference Room 2 from 11am to 11.45am.  John will also appear on the question and answer panel during the IX lunchtime conference in the Auditorium at 1pm.

This one-day event and exhibition encompasses all aspects of the stock market under one roof, where visitors can speak to exhibitors, attend free seminars, collect important information, get the inside track on what stocks are hot and find new ways to invest for better returns.

This educational event features over 30 seminars and workshops presented by expert speakers from the UK and the US.  The investment exhibition comprises more than 50 investment companies and delegates can participate in the lunchtime conference and debate.  Organisers expect around 2,500 active private investors to attend.

John Prout, sales director at NS&I – exclusive sponsors of the event – added: “We believe confidence in the stock market is slowly returning after a three year low, although investors are now far more aware of the downside risks.  This is borne out by sales of our guaranteed equity bond.  Since it was launched in March 2002, customers have invested more than £700 million in our capital secure bond, which offers a return linked to the performance of the FSTE 100 index.

“Investor 04 is a great opportunity for private investors, whether risk averse or comfortable with any form of investment, to get totally up-to-the-minute information about the market from experts in the field.”

This year’s event features topics including Investing Rules to examine how past investment gurus have succeeded, showing the difference between those people who simply talk about getting rich and those who actually do.

High profile international speakers from UK and US

Featured speakers include Alpesh Patel (alpeshpatel.com), Justin Urquhart Stewart (Seven Investment Management), Stephen Eckett (Global Investor), Steve Anderton, and John Prout (National Savings and Investments).  Three high profile speakers are flying in exclusively for IX Investor from the US: John O’Donnell (CEO of Online Trading Academy), Bo Yoder (Reality Trader) and Tom Gentile (Optionetics).

Live online trading night sponsored by E*TRADE

In addition to the exhibition, 2004 sees the launch of the US Trading Night, sponsored by E*Trade, taking place on the eve of the main event from 6pm to 9pm while US markets are still open for business.  Four guest speakers will demonstrate how to access the US markets online and make live trades from your personal computer.  This is open to the public, although tickets – priced £10 from www.ix-expo.com – are limited to 449.

Returning to stocks

Pan Kokkalis, a private investor in the City who will be attending the show, said: "With bank accounts giving me 1% p.a. and the property sector not looking too good, I am returning to stocks.  With all the mergers going on and stocks like Abbey and Marks shooting up, I want to know how to get those types of returns in my portfolio."

Lisa Campbell, director of the Information Exchange – organisers of IX Investor – said: “I am extremely proud that we have organised this event for five years now – we are filling a vital role in the financial services industry.  Being a successful private investor in these tough times requires a great deal of confidence and skill and IX Investor provides access to the experts who can teach the required skills, and the opportunity to meet people in the industry, and fellow private investors, thereby building confidence.  Successful investing and trading can be learnt and IX Investor provides a forum, a gathering place, for private investors across the UK.”
