Premium Bonds purchased just two years ago created two overnight millionaires in October’s Premium Bond draw. The Bonds bought by the two winners were purchased in October 2006, the deadline for being eligible for the 50th Anniversary draw in December 2006, and were lucky enough to match the random numbers generated by ERNIE for the monthly draw.

The gentleman from Scotland, who wishes to remain anonymous, said “I just can’t believe that this has happened to me! I only bought a small number of Premium Bonds, it just goes to show that it really could be anyone. I’m currently studying so this really will help me out, and will provide for a few good celebrations with my friends also.”

In October’s draw ERNIE paid out over 1.6 million prizes, together amounting to more than £104 million in value. There were 36,905,393,763 eligible Bond numbers that could have won a prize.
