In Dorset just over 337,000 people own Premium Bonds, worth in total just over £765 million. There are also 5,806 unclaimed Premium Bond prizes in Dorset worth a total of £337,825. This is the third time that someone in Dorset has won the jackpot. In Sheffield over 170,000 people own Premium Bonds, worth a total of over £197 million. There are also 3,390 unclaimed Premium Bond prizes in Sheffield, worth a total of over £199,075. It is the second time that someone in Sheffield has won the Premium Bond jackpot prize. In August’s draw ERNIE paid out over 1.6 million prizes, together amounting to more than £103 million in value. There were 36,660,269,997 Bonds in the August draw. Premium Bond Facts The current Premium Bonds prize fund rate is 3.40% tax-free2. The current odds of each £1 Bond number winning any prize are 22,000 to 1, so with average luck an investor with £30,000 in Premium Bonds could win 16 tax-free prizes a year. 23 million people have a total of £36 billion invested in Premium Bonds. Like all NS&I products, Premium Bonds offer investors 100% capital security, backed by HM Treasury, as well as the sense of fun that comes from winning tax-free prizes. Since the first Premium Bonds prize draw in 1957 over 177 million tax–free prizes together worth over £11 billion have been paid out. Prizes range from £50 to £1 million. There are currently over 500,000 unclaimed Premium Bond prizes, which added together amount to over £31 million. There is no time limit on claiming prizes.
