Press releaseNEW ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED FOR WEBSITE TO TRACE LOST SAVINGS04 February 2008NS&I (National Savings and Investments), in conjunction with the British Bankers’ Association (BBA) and the Building Societies Association (BSA), is today launching a major advertising campaign for www.mylostaccount.org.uk. The print and online advertising promotes www.mylostaccount.org.uk, the first free, ‘one-stop shop’ website to trace building society, bank and NS&I savings accounts. Designed to make it quicker and easier to search for lost accounts, the website brings together the existing tracing schemes from BBA, BSA and NS&I. www.mylostaccount.org.uk aims to reach a wide audience and to aid this will be promoted by an extensive online and print advertising campaign. This campaign will be fronted by a cartoon image, ‘Fetch’ the dog, designed to appeal to a wide audience. Ayesha de Silva, Online Marketing Manager at NS&I said, “The concept of ‘Fetch’ is a straightforward and fun way to make people aware of the new website, mylostaccount.org.uk. The site offers an easy, free way for the UK public to search for lost or forgotten savings accounts.” The print and online advertising campaign will commence on 4 February 2008. The advertisement was created by Chick Smith Trott and media buying handled by OMD UK. David Trott of Chick Smith Trott said, “We wanted to create a distinctive image for this website. Our creatives developed the lively animated cartoon dog "Fetch" who does just what you'd expect him to do - he runs off and fetches your lost savings.” Pre-campaign research has been extremely positive; with the great majority surveyed understanding that the advertising was asking them to go online and search for lost savings accounts. The applicant will only need to provide this information once. It will then, depending on the information provided, be passed securely to the bank, building society or NS&I. 3. Broken down, this is approximately £250-£350 million for banks, up to £150 million for building societies and £466 million for NS&I. 4. Copies, including screen grabs of the advertisements are available on request (in JPEG format). 5. Ayesha de Silva, Online Marketing Manager is available for interview.
