Celebrating Premium Bonds holdersThe December jackpot winners from Southampton and Swansea both wish to remain anonymous. In December’s draw ERNIE paid out over 1.7 million in prizes worth more than £119 million. This brings the grand total of prizes since the first draw in June 1957, to 164.14 million and the value to £10.5 billion. There were 35,920,865,376 bonds in the draw. In Swansea nearly 115,000 people own Premium Bonds worth nearly £140 million. There are nearly 1,900 unclaimed Premium Bond prizes worth nearly £108,000. In Southampton nearly 180,000 people own Premium Bonds worth nearly £275 million. There are nearly 2,800 unclaimed Premium Bond Prizes worth nearly £160,000. Premium Bond FactsThe Premium Bonds prize fund rate is 4.00% tax-free. The odds of winning any prize are 21,000 to 1, with average luck, an investor with £30,000 in Premium Bonds can expect to win 17 tax-free2 prizes a year. 23 million people have more than £36 billion invested in Premium Bonds. Premium Bonds can be bought online at www.nsandi.com, by telephone on 0500 007 0075, by post and over the counter at Post Office® branches. Like all NS&I products, Premium Bonds offer investors 100% capital security, backed by HM Treasury, as well as the sense of fun that comes from winning tax-free2 prizes. Since the first Premium Bonds prize draw in 1957, over 164.14 million tax-free2 prizes worth over £10.5 billion have been paid out. Prizes range from £50 to £1 million. There is currently over 510,000 unclaimed premium bond prizes worth almost £30 million. There is no time limit on claiming prizes. Premium Bonds investors can check to see if they have won by logging on to www.nsandi.com and using the Premium Bonds prize checker.
