Press releaseNORFOLK RESIDENTS SCOOP TOP PRIZES IN JANUARY’S PREMIUM BOND PRIZE DRAW16 January 2006Five lucky Norfolk residents enjoyed a prosperous start to the New Year by winning large Premium Bond prizes in this month’s draw. Amongst them was a pensioner who netted a high value £100,000 Premium Bond prize with a £2,000 Bond purchased in July 2005. The win represented a return of 50 times his original investment in just six months. The remaining Norfolk residents won one £10,000 Premium Bond prize and three £5,000 Premium Bond prizes and enjoyed healthy returns on their Bonds purchased between five months to eight years ago. Over one million prizes worth approximately £73 million were drawn across the UK this month in the Premium Bond prize draw operated by National Savings and Investments (NS&I). Sally Swait, Premium Bond manager at NS&I, said: “Every Premium Bond holder has a chance of winning in our monthly Premium Bonds prize draw and these wins are testament that Bonds of any age or value also win prizes. Statistically of course, the more Bonds you own, the better the chance of winning a prize at our Premium Bond prize draws.” In Norfolk, more than 347,000 people hold Premium Bonds worth over £469 million. However, over 3,600 prizes worth more than £212,000 remain unclaimed. There is no time limit on claiming prizes. Customers who own Premium Bonds and think they may have any unclaimed prizes can use the Premium Bond prize checker on the NS&I website at www.nsandi.com – customers simply need to enter their Premium Bond holder’s number. Customers who have lost their Premium Bonds or do not know their holder’s number can use NS&I’s free tracing service. A brochure and form can be downloaded from the NS&I website or requested by calling NS&I on 0845 964 5000. ENDS Notes to Editors Premium Bonds were launched in 1956 and £29 billion is currently invested by more than 23 million people. Each month, NS&I runs a prize draw and awards over one million prizes. In the January 2006 draw, the total prize fund exceeded £73 million. The minimum investment is £100 and the maximum is £30,000 per person.
