Press releaseI'LL HAVE A PINT WITH MY NATIONAL SAVINGS AND INVESTMENTS CASH MINI ISA PLEASE22 March 2002Using up your tax-free Individual Savings Account (ISA) allowance before 5 April needn't be a chore when you can pop into the Red Lion Pub, in Exmouth, Devon to do it. While enjoying a pint of your favourite you can top up your National Savings and Investments cash mini ISA or open a new one and take advantage of the £3,000 tax-free allowance at any Post OfficeTM branch. Savers and investors can also open up a new account (or use up their allowance by adding to an existing account) at the start of the tax year, 6 April, at over 17,500 Post OfficeTM branches which include a number of pubs, shops, stationers, off-licences and a hairdresser. The current interest on a National Savings and Investments cash mini ISA is a competitive 4.15% pa tax-free/AER (variable). Over £800 million has been invested since its launch in April 1999. Wilma Patterson, National Savings and Investments Channel Manager for Post Office said: "National Savings and Investments' partnership with the Post Office gives us a unique edge over our competition because of the added convenience we can offer. You can pick up a cash mini ISA while undertaking a number of everyday tasks. Who can else offer a service like that?" Customers can also open or top up their National Savings and Investments cash mini ISA by post by filling in the form in the brochure available from any Post Office branch, downloading a form from www.nsandi.com and mailing it to the Durham office, or by telephoning 0500 500 000 at any time. "Whether in shops, pubs, railway stations, vets and hairdressers, we aim to be the ultimate one-stop shop, making life easier for customers so they can do all their essential business face-to-face, in one place," said Michael Gibson, Client Director, Consignia plc. National Savings and Investments recently unveiled a new name and corporate identity to reflect its business transformation programme which has taken place over the past three years. You can now buy the majority of products, including the cash mini ISA, over the telephone.
