Welcome to the NS&I growing and savings calendar. Here you will find helpful hints and tips on how you can make both your gardening and financial efforts work better for you.

Find out when the best times are to budget for the months ahead and learn the key dates for growing, pruning and harvesting different fruit and vegetables.

As we all try to find ways to save money, growing your own fruit and vegetables is an obvious choice. This calendar will be updated every month to assist you along the way. 

May

Sow cauliflower and purple sprouting broccoli for harvesting in winter, and salad crops fortnightly for a continuous supply over the summer. Consider growing your savings monthly by setting up a regular standing order or direct debit.

Stay in control. Make sure you have enough money to enjoy May’s bank holidays, and look at your savings, investing money in savings accounts that will provide consistent rewards. Don’t forget your garden either, and control weeds by hoeing around crops. Why not make use from leftovers by making your own compost.
