January
Rotate both your fruit and vegetables. If you plan a rotation system for your vegetable plots to ensure crops are grown in different beds each year, it will prevent disease and optimise rewards.
Look ahead. Whether it’s making sure you anticipate times when you have to give your crops extra care and attention, such as during ground frosts or rainy spells, or thinking about what you have to save for later in the year, the start of the year is the ideal time to plan ahead.

Key date
31January: Deadline for submitting online tax returns. You must also pay any balance of any tax you owe for the tax year 2007/08 by this date. This is also the date by which you may be asked to make any first 'payment on account' for the current tax year.
