As we all try to find ways to save money, growing your own fruit and vegetables is an obvious choice. This calendar will be updated every month to assist you along the way.

Protect. As the colder months draw in cover your compost heaps with cardboard or old carpet to keep the heat in and damp out. Don’t forget to take advantage of your tax-free allowances, in addition to your ISA allowance there are other tax-free savings products to consider such as Saving Certificates and Premium Bonds.
Use winter nights. With the nights drawing in and the weather getting worse, it's a good excuse to read a good book or curl up in front of the TV. Perhaps you could put the cash you would have spent on going out into your savings pot. Look through seed and plant catalogues to plan your fruit and vegetable gardening for the New Year.
