As we all try to find ways to save money, growing your own fruit and vegetables is an obvious choice. This calendar will be updated every month to assist you along the way.
October
Cool it. If you had a hot summer of spending, then you might need some autumn cool. Think about a budget for Christmas and start setting aside some money for the festive period - save as much as you can. Blanche and freeze left over crops such as broad beans for later use.
Harvest. It’s time to harvest pumpkins and squashes – but to make sure you don’t get a Halloween scare, start thinking about how your finances will help to shape up for the last few months of the year.
Store your apple harvest. Apples require a cool, dark, frost-free place. Cellars, sheds and garages are suitable but beware of rodents.
