Celebrating Premium Bonds holders

The winner from Gloucestershire, who wishes to remain anonymous stated:

"I am delighted to have won the jackpot, however I am still in shock. I could not believe it when I received a visit from Agent Million, it just goes to show that dreams can come true.”

In Gloucestershire nearly 300,000 people own Premium Bonds worth £460 million.  There are almost 4,000 unclaimed Premium Bond prizes worth just under £230,000. 

The winner from the London Borough of Hillingdon also wishes to remain anonymous.

In the London Borough of Hillingdon 98,280 people own Premium Bonds worth just over £175 million.  There are also over 2,700 unclaimed Premium Bond Prizes worth over £160,000 in the London Borough of Hillingdon.

In February’s draw ERNIE paid out over 1.7 million in prizes worth more than £114 million. There were 36,080,118,450 bonds in the draw.

Premium Bond Facts

The Premium Bonds prize fund rate is 3.80% tax-free.  The odds of winning any prize are 21,000 to 1, with average luck, an investor with £30,000 in Premium Bonds can expect to win 17 tax-free2 prizes a year.

23 million people have more than £36 billion invested in Premium Bonds.

Premium Bonds can be bought online at www.nsandi.com, by telephone on 0500 007 0075, by post and over the counter at Post Office® branches, and brochures can be picked up in over 400 WHSmith stores.

Like all NS&I products, Premium Bonds offer investors 100% capital security, backed by HM Treasury, as well as the sense of fun that comes from winning tax-free2 prizes.

Since the first Premium Bonds prize draw in 1957, over 167.58 million tax-free2 prizes worth over £10.8 billion have been paid out.  Prizes range from £50 to £1 million.

There are currently over 510,000 unclaimed premium bond prizes worth almost £30 million. There is no time limit on claiming prizes.  Premium Bonds investors can check to see if they have won by logging on to www.nsandi.com and using the Premium Bonds prize checker. All Premium Bonds prizes are free of UK income tax and capital gains tax.
