Forgotten your password?

If you have forgotten your password, call us free on 0500 007 007. Providing we can verify your security details, we’ll send a temporary password to the postal address you gave us. We may ask you to confirm your request in writing.

Before you can continue managing your money online or by phone, you’ll need to change this temporary password to one of your own choice. You will be prompted to do this when you log in to NS&I’s online service, or call us on 0500 007 007 for assistance.

Passwords must be between 6 and 8 characters and must contain a minimum of:

  • 1 upper case letter

  • 1 lower case letter

  • 1 special character

  • 1 number

An example is Uhsd895* (don’t use this example for your own password). A special character can be any of the following:

! # $ * + , . / : ? @ [ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~

As with all security information, you must keep your password secure.

If you have forgotten your security details, call us free on 0500 007 007. We’ll write to you for new details, and then send you a temporary password to the postal address you gave us.

How can I find my NS&I number?

When logging in, you will be asked for your NS&I number and password. When you registered for our online and phone service, we posted you separate confirmation of your NS&I number. It is 11 digits long and always starts with either an 11, 21, 31 or 41. (Note: your NS&I number is different to your holder's number.)

When you enter your NS&I number, please type it without spaces.

Please keep it in a safe place as you will need it when using our online and phone service to manage selected accounts and investments with NS&I.

Forgotten your NS&I number?

For your security, we cannot provide this information by phone or email.

If you know your account or holder's number then call us. We may be able to send your NS&I number to the postal address you gave us.

If you do not know your account number or holder's number then you’ll need to write to us stating your name and address. Please remember to sign your letter.

How do I change my password or security details?

If you want to change your password or security details, you can do so online or by calling us free on 0500 007 007. If you need to change your security phone number, you'll need to call us.
